Week 26 - 6 Months Old!!

Dear Lily Emma,

You turned 6 months old last Saturday (the 14th). Your Daddy and I love you so much that all the words in the world wouldn't be able to express it. We have loved you from the moment you were placed inside of me. I know that you are alive because your 2 older siblings sacrificed themselves for you. This was meant to be your time here on earth, not theirs, and Daddy and I love them for their love for you. I'm sure they watch over you now and have been from the very start. They make you laugh and smile when there's no other explanation of why you are doing so. The 2 of them will be helping you make the right choices in life so you can accomplish everything you are here to do.

Lily, you are so special. Our miracle. I remember how hard it was for me to give birth to you. Yes, it was the hardest thing that I have ever done, but it was worth it, I would do it again in a heartbeat because without you, I am nothing. Everything that I have ever done in my life has lead up to having you, so I have not one regret. I'm sure your Daddy feels the same.

You have reached so many milestones up to this point and I see more and more as the days go by. So far you have conquered:

• smiling
• laughing
• sleeping through the night
• rolling over from front to back and back to front
• cooing, babbling, and screeching
• eating cereal and fruit - and now starting on veggies
• holding things
• grabbing and reaching for things
• sitting up all by yourself

My you have grown! 8 pounds, 2.2 ounces, 19 inches at birth and now you are 18 pounds, 9 ounces, 26 inches. Just look at your progress:

You truly are a blessing. Such a good baby. You are so content, happy, and patient. I hope you never loose those traits. I love your smile and the sound of your laughter. I don't ever want to see you sad because it makes me sad. Nothing compares to the love that a parent has for their baby. Daddy and I will be here for you always. We are very excited for you to meet more milestones and continue to be the happy baby girl that you are today.

Week 25

1. 6 months ago today - also Friday the 13th - my water broke and Lily was on her way! Next weeks post will be filled with her milestones and an update on her weight and height.
2. I really believe that Lily is going to go crazy over Star Wars when she's older. Dan had The Empire Strikes Back on for a little bit and Lily was mesmerized by the music and the words going up the screen in the beginning of the movie.
3. Lily is learning how to crawl. She can't get up on all fours yet, but she can push herself forward like an inch worm. She'll only do it when she's trying to reach for something though.
4. Lily is sitting up all by herself for a good amount of time now. She's almost got the whole balance thing down to a science!
5. Earlier in the week Lily and I were staring at each other and she started to laugh really hard. I must be funny looking.
6. The other day, Dan was changing Lily's diaper and I heard her laughing uncontrollably. I went in to see what she was laughing at - Dan was cleaning her neck with a wipe. Weird.
7. Lily still sleeps through the night, but new this week is her "sleep crying" for about 10 seconds anywhere from midnight to 1am. She must be having bad dreams. I don't like that.

Week 24

1. Dan's 37th Birthday was last Friday. We went out to dinner with my parents then went back to their house for cake. I got Dan a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting…yum! Lily was wearing a pink dress but that didn't stop one lady in the restaurant from asking, "Boy or Girl?" Idiot!
2. Lily had fun while Dan read her The Cat In The Hat. 
3. On Sunday we brought Lily to the pool for the first time. Walking to the pool, Lily was awake, but by the time we got there she was sleeping. I held off for as long as I could before waking her - about 5 minutes. I know, I know - never wake a sleeping baby, but I just had to. I wanted to go in the water with her! First we went in the baby pool. She liked that. Just hanging out in the water. Then we brought in her in the big pool. I think she liked that more. We dunked her a few times and she didn't mind. She's such a good baby. Not one complaint from her! Maybe she'll be a swimmer.
4. Wednesday was the 4th of July - Lily's first. We went to Target and while Dan was looking at DVD's, Lily and I strolled through the toy section. We came across Sesame Street stuff and I picked up Cookie Monster. Lily started laughing right away. Every time I held Cookie Monster up, she would laugh. This went on for about 10 minutes through the store. We just had to buy him! 
5. While the fire works were going off, Lily was already asleep. Dan and I were worried that the loud booms and cracks would wake her up, but luckily for us, she slept right through them!
