Week 36

  • On Sunday, the cooler weather and a growing Lily equals clothes shopping for Mommy and Daddy! Yay! We finally did clothes shopping for Lily. It has taken us this long to need to go shopping. Between my baby shower and Lily's welcome party, we haven't needed to buy clothes…until now. Oh happy day!!!!
  • On Tuesday, we put together Lily's new play area. Since she's crawling now, we needed to be able to contain her plus give her more space to play. Her pack n play is OK, but she can't really move around too much in it. Now, with the use of foam mats and a play yard gate, Lily has a big space to crawl and play. It's amazing how adding this play area makes our apartment look bigger, not smaller. It's amazing what a little rearranging can do.
  • Also on Tuesday, Lily had fun at our Mommy and Me class. She and the other baby Lily, had a blast talking to one another. It was so cute I wish I video taped it.
  • Tuesday again, Since I loved the outfit I put Lily in I decided to take some professional shots of her. We went outside and had our own little photo shoot. It was all fun and games until Lily threw up on my hand and camera, then started sneezing with huge amounts of snot. I'm thinking she may have allergies 'cause she got better after about 15 minutes inside.
  • On Thursday, Lily stood up for the first time! How exciting and scary all at the same time.
  • On Friday (today), Lily cut her first tooth! I was checking her mouth, like I always do, and OUCH! Her tiny little sharp tooth hurt my finger.
  • How cool is it that within the span of 2 weeks Lily has learned to sit up, crawl, and stand. Then to top it all off she gets her first tooth. Our baby girl is growing up so fast. I'm happy and sad all at the same time.

Week 35

  • On Saturday the 15th, we did a charity walk for Lymphedema Awareness. This walk meant a lot to me as I have Primary Lymphedema in both legs and feet. I helped raise $880 (my goal was $500) and would like to thank all who donated. The walk was held in Eisenhower Park and was sponsored by the Lymphatic Research Foundation for the third year now. It was such a beautiful day for a walk in the park, we were very lucky. It felt really good to be a part of something that will help many people - myself included. This was the first fundraiser walk for me and I don't think it will be my last.
  • I created a design for my team and ironed it onto t-shirts. I think we had the best t-shirts at the walk and wish they had a prize for that. They did have other prizes and raffles. Dan and I did a 50/50 raffle - we didn't win. Oh well.
  • On Sunday I started teaching Lily how to give a high five. She can sorta do it! When I put up my hand and say, "high five," she slowly puts her hand to mine. It's a work in progress. She has already said "Uh Oh" a few times after I have said it. I'm not making it up - even Dan heard her. We have the smartest baby! OK, I know all parents will say that about their kid, but Dan and I are convinced that Lily really is the smartest baby. Plus, I think she can read my mind sometimes, but that's a different story and I don't want to get into that right now :)
  • Also on Sunday, Dan and I lowered Lily's crib mattress because she is now sitting up and can pull herself up to a kneeling position. We don't want her to fall out of her crib - obviously.
  • On Wednesday Lily finally figured out how to crawl forward! She had been crawling backwards for a while now, but she learned that if she moves her arms forward first, then her legs, she can go forward. Now that all she wants to do. I have my hands full now and can't leave her unattended for even a second. Her big thing is to crawl to our DVD's and Dan's Star Wars Adat (see video below). We just ordered her a play yard gate so we can section off a spot for her to crawl around in. The pack n play just isn't cutting it with room for her to move.
  • Lily has been driving me a little crazy ever since she got sick with where and how she goes to sleep. She doesn't want to lay down anywhere, let alone her crib. So now I've been rocking her to sleep in her stroller. It's the only place she will fall asleep. I strap her in and lean her back. I can even lay her all the way down in the stroller and she doesn't mind, but lay her down in her crib and…"AAAHHHHHHWAAAAAWAAAA!!!!!!!!" Ugh! I credit teething for this new headache.
  • Lily is getting bottom teeth. 2 to be exact, but they have not broken through yet. I can see them and wish they would just show themselves to the fullest already! Geez. We've been giving Lily baby Advil (Tylenol does nothing for her) and the Hyland's Teething Tablets. Nothing really seems to be doing the trick though. Just her stroller, for some odd reason. I hope her sleeping in it doesn't hurt her growth in any way. I'd hate to think she develops back problems because she's always strap into the darn thing.

Week 34 - 8 Months Old

  • On Saturday (the 8th) we brought Lily to see her pediatrician because of a cold. She started feeling sick with a runny nose on Thursday and by Friday, late morning, she was running a fever of 101.9ยบ. Luckily, Lily didn't run a fever for too long, and by Saturday morning she was fever free. At the doctor's, Lily was all smiles as Dr. Cheruvanky looked her over. No ear infection or strep throat. Lily just has a run-of-the-mill cold with a little red and irritated throat. So we just continued to do what we had been for the past day: lots of fluids, saline drops in her nose 2-3 times a day, Advil every 6-8 hours (if needed), and wiping her nose with Boogie Wipes. Boogie Wipes are the best, by the way. What a great thing! We got Lily the Great Grape Scent. I want to use them for myself when I get a cold. If you have kids and have never used these "tissues", GET THEM NOW!!! Love them!
  • On Sunday we were supposed to bring Lily to her free introductory class at The Little Gym in Levittown. Being that she still had the sniffles and not feeling much better, we skipped it. Not a big deal since we were only going to that one class anyway. The Little Gym is the same price as Gymboree for the Mommy and Me classes, so definitely not signing her up. Stupid $119 per month for ONE class.
  • On Tuesday I took Lily to a Mommy and Me class at Tot's-On-Track in Massapequa Park. At a total of $159 for 13 weeks, we couldn't go wrong. I signed her up and we will be attending the Caboosey Crawlers (3-14 months old) class every Tuesday from now until December 18th! I'm so glad I found them. I really want Lily to be able to interact with babies around the same age as her. Plus, it's good for me too, being able to interact with parents with babies around the same age as Lily. Her class consists of one 11 month old, three 8 month olds (includes Lily), and one 4 month old. All girls. We'll see if the next class has any new-comers, but 5 babies in the class is perfect!
  • NEW THIS WEEK: Lily can now sit by herself from a laying down position. I have not seen this first hand, but know she does it. What I do see is Lily laying on her stomach, then I turn my head for a second and when I look back, she is sitting up. She's so sneaky! It's like she does it on purpose so I won't see her do it.
  • Lily just turned 8 months old today (Friday the 14th)! It's so exciting to watch her grow right before our eyes. It makes me sad though to think that I will not have my little baby for long. Soon she will be a big girl and want to do big girl things, then tween, then teen, then, well, I don't even want to think about that old.
